Labiaplasty
When the inner labia cause physical discomfort or persistent self-consciousness, labiaplasty may offer a personalised solution. Always with respect for your anatomy, comfort and sensation.
When can correction help?
Labia come in a wide variety of shapes, colours and sizes. Asymmetry or visible inner labia is normal and does not require treatment.
Labiaplasty may be considered when you experience recurring discomfort or feel persistently uneasy about the appearance of your labia. During your consultation, we discuss without judgement what bothers you and what surgery can realistically change.
This is not a standardised reduction. The surgeon preserves sufficient tissue and considers protection, sensation, symmetry and a natural result.
- Chafing or pulling while cycling, exercising or walking
- Discomfort in tight clothing or underwear
- Discomfort or pain during intimacy
- Persistent self-consciousness despite accurate information about normal variation
The labia minora and labia majora
Labiaplasty may involve the inner labia, the outer labia or, when appropriate, both. The approach is always tailored to your anatomy and symptoms.
Labia minora
During labia minora correction, excess or asymmetric tissue is carefully reduced. The aim is to limit physical discomfort while preserving sufficient tissue, protection and a natural shape.
Labia majora
The outer labia majora can also be surgically corrected when there is excess skin or tissue. The surgeon can refine volume and contour, with attention to symmetry and a natural result.
Combined correction
When both the inner and outer labia cause symptoms, both areas can be assessed within the same treatment plan. A combination is not automatically necessary: only corrections that are functionally and aesthetically appropriate are performed.
What is the wedge technique?
The wedge technique is one possible method of reducing the labia minora . Rather than removing tissue along the entire outer edge, the surgeon removes a carefully measured V-shaped section from the widest part. The remaining edges are then precisely brought together.
This preserves more of the natural edge, colour and texture of the labium. The technique may also reduce projection without altering the entire edge.
In addition to the wedge technique, there is also the trim or edge technique. The most suitable method depends on factors including shape, thickness, asymmetry, tissue quality and the desired result. A wedge procedure requires meticulous closure and, like other techniques, carries a risk of delayed healing or partial wound separation. Your surgeon discusses the advantages and disadvantages during your consultation.
The cost of labiaplasty
The exact price depends on the area treated, the selected technique and your personal treatment plan. After the consultation, you receive a clear, no-obligation quotation.

What happens during labiaplasty?
The exact technique depends on your anatomy, symptoms and desired change. Your surgeon clearly explains the selected approach beforehand.
Consultation
We listen to your symptoms and expectations, examine the area and discuss alternatives, scars and possible risks.
Treatment plan
Together with you, the surgeon determines which correction is appropriate. Anaesthesia and practical preparation are also discussed.
The procedure
Excess tissue is carefully removed and the wound is closed with fine, usually dissolvable sutures.
Aftercare
You receive clear instructions on wound care, cooling, medication and activities. Healing is monitored during follow-up appointments.
Give your body time to recover
Swelling, tenderness, bruising and a pulling sensation are normal at first. Swelling gradually subsides, but the final result can only be assessed once the tissue has fully settled.
Recovery varies from person to person. Your surgeon’s instructions therefore always take precedence over general timelines.
A natural, balanced result
The aim is a shape that suits your body and reduces any discomfort. Fine scars are placed in the natural folds where possible and generally become less noticeable as healing progresses.
Labiaplasty does not alter the vagina itself and is not a treatment for urinary leakage or prolapse. These symptoms require a targeted gynaecological assessment first.
Every operation carries possible risks, including bleeding, infection, delayed healing, asymmetry or altered sensation. These do not occur in everyone. During your consultation, your surgeon calmly discusses which risks are relevant to you and how they can be minimised.
A decision that is yours
Choosing intimate surgery deserves time and a safe, respectful consultation. We want to understand whether your request stems from physical symptoms, a longstanding personal wish or outside pressure.
In case of doubt, unrealistic expectations, active infection or untreated gynaecological symptoms, the surgeon may advise postponing the procedure or arranging further assessment first.
Respect for normal variation
There is no standard shape that a vulva should conform to. The consultation therefore starts with accurate and reassuring information.
Realistic goals
The procedure can improve shape and discomfort, but does not promise perfection or guarantee a change in sexual pleasure.
Discretion and aftercare
Your questions are discussed confidentially and you receive clear guidance before, during and after treatment.
What else would you like to know?
Is labiaplasty the same as vaginal tightening?
No. Labiaplasty changes the shape or size of the labia. It does not tighten the vagina or treat prolapse or urinary leakage.
Will scars remain visible?
Every surgical incision leaves a scar. Scars are positioned in the natural folds where possible and generally continue to fade during healing.
Does the procedure affect sensation?
Temporary changes in sensation due to swelling and healing can occur. A permanent change is possible but less common. Your surgeon discusses this risk and adapts the technique to your anatomy.
Can I still give birth later?
A future pregnancy remains possible. Pregnancy and childbirth can change the tissue again, so discuss your plans for children during the consultation.
When can I exercise or have sex again?
This depends on your healing and the type of activity. Avoid pressure and friction until the wound is fully closed and settled. Resume strenuous exercise and sexual activity only with your surgeon’s approval.
Is labiaplasty reimbursed?
An aesthetic procedure is generally not reimbursed. Different conditions may apply when there is a clear medical indication. You receive a personalised quotation after the consultation and can ask your health insurer about possible reimbursement.
Discuss your concerns in confidence
A consultation gives you clear information about your anatomy, the options and recovery. You decide only when it feels right for you.
