About the procedure

What is a breast augmentation?

A breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that adjusts the volume, shape, or symmetry of the breasts. This can be done using breast implants, your own fat, or a combination of a breast lift and implants.

The most suitable technique doesn't depend only on the desired cup size. The width of your chest, the amount of your own breast tissue, skin quality, any asymmetry and your lifestyle all play an important role. That's why every treatment starts with a personal examination and conversation with the plastic surgeon.

Who is it suitable for?

  • You naturally have little breast volume
  • You lost volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss
  • You want to correct asymmetry between your breasts
  • You'd like a different shape or proportion
  • You have realistic expectations about the possible result

The procedure is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Smoking, certain conditions, medication or an unstable weight can also increase the risk of complications — your plastic surgeon will assess this during the consultation.

Personally determined

How do we determine which implant suits you?

There's no single implant that's best for everyone. During the consultation, the plastic surgeon looks at:

  • The width and shape of your chest
  • The amount of your own breast tissue
  • The quality and elasticity of your skin
  • The position of your breasts and nipples
  • Any existing differences between your breasts
  • The volume and look you want

Based on this, we determine the volume, width, projection and type of implant — as well as its position, in front of or partly behind the chest muscle. The goal isn't to copy a pre-chosen cup size, but to create a result that's technically achievable and proportionate to your body.

Training centre for innovative breast surgery

Expertise we also pass on to other surgeons

Belgian Beauty Clinic is a recognised training centre for both Mia Femtech™ and Motiva Preservé™. Plastic surgeons are trained with us in these innovative, tissue-sparing breast augmentation techniques.

The training programmes are led by dr Kristoff Verdonck, international trainer for Mia Femtech™ and Motiva Preservé™. Attention is paid to correct patient selection, careful treatment planning and the safe, precise execution of both techniques.

Mia Femtech™

A minimally invasive breast augmentation where the implant is placed through a small incision in the armpit, without any incision on the breast itself.

Motiva Preservé™

A breast-sparing technique developed to preserve as much breast tissue as possible while placing the implant.

What does this mean for you?

You're treated at a centre that not only has experience with these techniques, but is also involved in training other plastic surgeons. Which method suits you best is always assessed personally and honestly during the consultation.

Aftercare

Frequent, lifelong check-ups. Available 24/7.

How does the procedure work?

A classic breast augmentation usually takes place under general anaesthesia, as day surgery. Through a carefully placed incision, the surgeon creates space for the implant. The position and surgical technique are agreed in advance based on your anatomy and the chosen implant.

After the procedure, you're monitored in our recovery room. As soon as you've recovered sufficiently and all checks are good, you can go home the same day, accompanied. You'll receive clear instructions on wound care, medication, the post-operative bra and activities to temporarily avoid.

Recovery

What can you realistically expect?

Recovery isn't a fixed number of weeks, but a gradual process. This timeline gives a realistic picture — your surgeon will guide you through it, tailored to you.

1

The first few days

Swelling, tightness, sensitivity and temporary differences between the two breasts are normal. Rest and proper pain relief are important.

2

After one to two weeks

Many patients can resume light daily or administrative work. This depends on the technique, your recovery and the nature of your job.

3

The following weeks

Sport, heavy lifting and intensive arm movements are gradually resumed, following your surgeon's instructions.

4

The final result

The implants and surrounding tissue need time to settle. The breasts gradually become softer and more natural — the final result is usually assessed only after a few months.

Risks & long-term follow-up

Honest about the risks

Like any operation, a breast augmentation carries possible risks. These include bleeding, infection, wound problems, altered sensitivity, asymmetry, capsular contracture, implant displacement or damage, and the possibility of a later correction.

Breast implants aren't lifelong devices. They don't automatically need to be replaced after ten years, but a future check-up or new procedure may be necessary. During the consultation, you'll receive detailed information about the benefits, limitations and risks of the chosen implant. After the operation, you'll also receive an implant card with your implants' details.

Possible points of attention

Bleeding
Infection
Wound problems
Altered sensitivity
Asymmetry
Capsular contracture
Implant displacement
Revision surgery

Your surgeon will discuss these points of attention with you in detail during the consultation, tailored to your situation.
