Arm liftSmoother, firmer
upper-arm contours.
An arm lift removes excess upper-arm skin and refines the contour. Your treatment plan is tailored to your body, skin quality and goals.
When excess skin bothers you
When might an
arm lift be suitable?
Weight loss, ageing or genetics can cause upper-arm skin to lose firmness. Exercise can strengthen the muscles, but usually cannot remove significant excess skin.
An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, removes excess skin and, when needed, some underlying fat. It may suit women and men with a stable weight, realistic expectations and health that allows surgery.
- Excess skin along the inner or lower upper arm
- A stable weight with no major weight loss planned
- A wish for firmer, better-balanced arm contours
Every upper arm is different
A technique tailored to your anatomy.
The position and length of the incision depend on how much skin needs to be removed and where the excess is located.
From consultation to aftercare
A personalised treatment plan.
Discuss & prepare
We assess your skin, fat distribution, health and expectations. We explain incision placement, anaesthesia and aftercare. Tell us about medication, supplements, nicotine use and previous surgery; never adjust medication yourself.
The procedure
The surgeon marks the correction beforehand. Excess skin is removed, sometimes together with liposuction. The tissues are carefully closed to reshape the upper arm.
Follow-up & recovery
After observation, you receive instructions about wound care, compression garments, movement and check-ups. Arrange transport home and help during the first few days. Always follow your surgeon’s personal instructions.
Unsure whether an arm lift, liposuction or a combination is right for you? During the consultation, we clearly explain which option best suits your skin and goals.

Recovery happens
step by step.
The incision is usually placed along the inner or back of the upper arm. The scar is initially redder and generally becomes lighter and calmer over time. Appropriate aftercare supports the best possible healing.
- The first few daysSwelling, bruising, tightness and tenderness are common. Position your arms as instructed and avoid forceful movements.
- The first few weeksYou will usually wear a compression garment or sleeves. Light work can often be resumed after about one to two weeks, depending on your job and recovery. Heavy lifting and exercise are restarted later.
- The following monthsSwelling continues to settle and the contour becomes clearer. Scars also need time to mature. Sun protection and appropriate scar care are important.
The exact duration of compression wear and when you may resume activities are determined individually.

Frequently asked
questions.
A realistic understanding of recovery and possible risks is essential. During your consultation, we discuss what is achievable in your situation.
Is the result long-lasting?
Removed skin does not return. Ageing and future weight fluctuations can still change the skin and contour over time. Maintaining a stable weight helps preserve the result.
How does the scar develop?
The scar is initially redder and more visible. For many people, it becomes lighter and flatter over time. Healing depends on factors including your skin, wound healing, tension, nicotine use and aftercare.
What are the possible risks?
Possible complications include bleeding, infection, fluid accumulation, delayed wound healing, a wide or visible scar, asymmetry, contour irregularities and temporary or permanent changes in sensation.
General surgical risks also include thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and anaesthetic complications. Additional correction is sometimes needed. Your surgeon discusses your personal risk profile beforehand.
When can I return to work, exercise and driving?
This depends on the extent of surgery, your recovery and the type of work or exercise. Light work may be possible after one to two weeks. Heavy lifting and intensive exercise require more time. Drive only when you can react safely, are no longer taking sedating medication and have your surgeon’s approval.
Do I need to stop smoking or vaping?
Nicotine reduces blood flow and increases the risk of wound problems. Discuss smoking, vaping and nicotine products openly during your consultation. Your surgeon will tell you how long you must remain nicotine-free before and after surgery.
Can an arm lift be combined with another procedure?
Sometimes, for example after major weight loss. Whether combining procedures is appropriate depends on your health, the duration and extent of surgery, and recovery. Safety determines whether procedures are performed together or staged.
