A mastopexy is the medical term for a breast lift. During this procedure, sagging breasts are lifted and reshaped to create a firmer, more youthful contour. The nipple is repositioned if necessary, restoring harmony with the rest of the body.

After pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or simply due to the natural aging process, the skin can lose elasticity, causing the breasts to sag. A mastopexy corrects this without necessarily changing the breast volume.

Is an implant always required?

No. A mastopexy can be performed without implants when there is sufficient volume and only lifting is needed.

Some women choose to combine a breast lift with breast augmentation. In that case, the lift is combined with an implant.

How is the procedure performed?

The technique is always tailored to the patient’s anatomy and wishes. Depending on the degree of sagging, the surgeon may choose different incision patterns (around the areola, vertical, or anchor-shaped).

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. After surgery, you will wear a supportive bra for several weeks to ensure optimal healing.
